With spreading of the information & communication technology (ICT), science education has been becoming popular among the young students in recent years, education experts have said at a seminar.
They made the observation at a day-long seminar on ‘Science education, its present status, challenges and way-outs’ organised by Ramnathpur Bahumukhi Nabayan Sangha (RBNS) at Rangpur Learning & Earning Resource Centre yesterday.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Gen) Dr ATM Mahbubul Karim attended the seminar, arranged with the assistance of Bangladesh Freedom Foundation (BFF) under Science Education Project in secondary level educational institutions the as chief guest.
Executive Magistrate Naznin Sultana, Executive Director of BFF Sajjadur Rahman Chowdhury, Programme Officer Morshed Alam, noted educationist Principal Fakhrul Anam Benzu, Badarganj Upazila Academics Supervisor Shamim Ara Yasmin, addressed.
Presided over by Executive Director of RBNS Saiful Islam, heads of different secondary level educational institutions, teachers, students, ICT experts of RBNS and BFF, public representatives, journalists and local elite took part in the seminar.
The participants said the number students in science education at the secondary level educational institutions marked fall few years back though the number has been increasing satisfactorily during the past seven years.
Principal Fakhrul Anam Benzu observed that number of students in science education could be increased further through setting up of modern laboratories, appointing more efficient teachers and ensuring adequate inputs in the secondary level educational institutions.
The chief guest called upon the guardians, teachers and members of the school governing committees for encouraging the students in science education in this present era of science and digitised ICT to further accelerate the pace of national development.
