An own goal meant Sporting Lisbon had to settle for a 1-1 draw with FC Porto on Friday before Chelsea’s visit in the Champions League.
Jonathan Silva gave Sporting the lead at home in the second minute when the left back scored from a cross by Andre Carillo, only for Porto to level in the 56th when defender Mouhamadou Sarr scored an own goal.
The draw provisionally left Sporting level on points with Rio Ave and Belenenses, three points behind Portuguese league leader Benfica.
Porto moved into a provisional second place above Guimaraes, one point behind Benfica.
