Eminent citizens on Tuesday urged the government to immediately arrest those guilty of perpetrating the communal violence against the Hindu community over the past week in different areas of the country, most prominently in Nasirnagar of Brahmanbaria.
They also urged the government to unearth the reasons behind the Nasirnagar attacks and to find out the godfathers by forming a judicial probe committee headed by an Appellate Division judge, according to a press release.
They made the demand at a human chain and solidarity rally in front of the
National Press Club organized by Samprodayikata Birodhi Sangbadik Mancha in the morning. Politicians, journalists and other professionals joined the programme. Addressing the rally, veteran politician and United NAP president Pankaj Bhattacharjee said the Pakistani agents are still active in both police and civil administrations and urged the government to launch a ‘purification’ drive in the administration.
