The law enforcing agencies including elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) has taken special security measures for the Independence Day on March 26.
Meanwhile, police was controlling the movements of vehicles at the Chittagong Central Shahid Minar and adjoining areas from yesterday. Police will control movements of the people at Shahid Minar from Saturday morning.
Sources said, law enforcing agencies has taken special measures to keep law and order in the port city Chittagong control.
As the Swadhinatar Boi Mela (Independence book fair) and Independence Day programs are continuing at DC Hill and some other places in the city, police has taken security measures to control the movements of unwanted people and miscreants there.
Meanwhile, fearing the attack of militants and miscreants the law enforcing agencies has started special raids in the city and rural areas in Chittagong recently.
Meanwhile, the CMP has started storm raids at the different spots in the port city to nab the criminals particularly the suspicious militants. CMP has started checking the hotels and vehicles at the important spots in the port city.
It may be mentioned that the higher authority issued directives to the top officials of CMP and RAB to take special measures on the March 26 Independence Day for controlling and order situation and resist any anarchy by the miscreants particularly militants.
Ctg ready to celebrate Independence and National Day
BSS form Chittagong adds: Chittagong district administration and City Corporation together with various political, social and cultural organizations and educational institutions including Chittagong University chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the Independence and National Day here tomorrow with much enthusiasm and patriotic zeal.
The day’s programmes will begin with the heralding of 31-gun salute at Chittagong District administration hill and placing of floral wreath at the city’s Shaheed Minar at the zero hours.
The programmes also include hoisting of national flag atop all government, semi-government, private and public buildings, institutions, reception to the FFs and screening of documentary films at different cinema halls and other open places.
A combined march-past of the Police, Ansar-VDP, Fire Service, BNCC, Scouts, Girls Guides, Jail guards and students of different educational institutions will be held at Parade ground at Chawkbazar in the morning.
Divisional Commissioner Ruhul Amain will take the salute from the march-past attending as chief guest. At noon, the valiant Freedom Fighters will be accorded reception at Chittagong circuit house. Sports competition and discussion will be organized for the women at Shisu Academy premises in the afternoon.
At the district Shishu Academy, competition on arts, patriotic songs and poetry recitation has been arranged for the school and college students.
Improved diets will be served among the inmates of hospitals, Chittagong central jail, safe homes and orphans.
Special prayers will be offered at the city’s mosques after Zoh’r prayers and different other places of worships seeking divine blessings for peace and progress of the nation.
On the other hand, a discussion meeting on “Muktijuddah, Independence and possibility of using Digital technology to build prosperous Bangladesh”, will be held at Shilphokola Academy with Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Shamsul Arefin in the Chair.
Besides, the entire city’s important visiting spots and places like Chittagong University, Foy’s Lake, Patenga Sea Beach, Central Zoo and Shishu Park will remain open for the visitors throughout the day.
Chittagong Metropolitan and district police have taken foolproof security measures in the city and district to ensure smooth celebration of the national independence day on March 26, police sources said.
Check-posts will be set up at every entry and exit points for making the security foolproof. All entry and exit points of the port city are being monitored round-the-clock, the source added.
