News Desk :
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has said that the special Covid-19 mass inoculation drive will start from August 14 instead of August 7 as the lockdown was extended due to the rise of coronavirus infection.
Director-General of the DGHS Prof Dr ABM Khurshid Alam has confirmed the matter to the media on Thursday morning.
He said only the experimental trial of the vaccine will be given on August 7 under the campaign. After a seven-day shutdown, the campaign will resume on August 14. However, the ongoing vaccination program will continue.
The government had earlier planned to administer around one crore doses during those six days – August 7 to 12. However, the duration of the vaccination drive has been shortened. For the time being, the drive will take place only on August 7.
