Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim said special drive would be carried out against the drug adulteration soon as it is very harmful for public health.
“Nobody would be spared if he or she is involved with the production and marketing of adulterated medicine,” he added, an official release said.
The minister said this on Sunday while a delegation of Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries (BAPI) called on him at his Secretariat Office.
State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Malek and Health Secretary MM Neazuddin were present on the occasion. The delegation included BAPI President Salman F Rahman, Nazmul Hasan, MP, Professor Dr Habibe Millat, and BAPI Secretary General Abdul Muktadir.
Nasim said if drug industry is well treated, it is possible to make it as foreign exchange earning sector like RMG industries.
“Drug industry is a highly potential sector as it has international standard and it is able to make more contribution to the economy,” he added.
He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is determined to reach health services to the doorsteps of the people. The minister announced that the Drug Testing Laboratory, which is constructed first time in the country, will be inaugurated soon.
