Speakers for bring back drug-traders to normal life

Speakers here stressed on social responsibility to bring back the persons, the youths in particular, involved in trading, addiction and trafficking of drugs to normal life.
They viewed the communities side by side with the law-enforcing agencies and other government organizations concerned should come forward and work together to protect people from deadly consequences of the crimes.
The observations came in a meeting arranged for rehabilitating some of the drug-traders at Khorbona area under Boalia Police Station in the city yesterday. Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) hosted the meeting.
On the occasion, 43 drug-traders expressed their commitment of refraining themselves from the crimes. They were rehabilitated with cash money, sewing machines and rickshaw-vans.
RMP Commissioner Shafiqul Islam and Additional Commissioner Sarder Tamij Uddin spoke as chief and special guests while Deputy Commissioner (West) AKM Nahidul Islam was in the chair.
Principal of Rajshahi College Prof Habibur Rahman, Acting Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation Nizam-Ul Azim, RMP Deputy Commissioners Amir Jafar, Tofayel Ahmed and Abdullah Al Mamun, President of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Md Moiruzzaman and Managing Director of Barind Medical College Md Shamsuddin also spoke.
RMP Chief Shafiqul Islam sought community support to make the society free from addiction, trading and trafficking of drugs.
He said people should extend cooperation with specific information about the criminals as they know well about their location.
Shafiqul Islam also urged the law enforcement agencies and others concerned to expedite the anti-drug drives to make the society free from the curse.
