Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, also Chairperson of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) executive committee, on Sunday left Dhaka for London to join the Commonwealth Day-2017.
CPA will organise the Day at London, the United Kingdom (UK) today with the theme “A Peace-building Commonwealth”, while the Speaker is scheduled to inaugurate it, an official handout said.
CPA executive committee member Imran Ahmad, also Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Post Tele Communication and Information Technology, accompanied the speaker.
Senior Secretary of Parliament Dr Md Abdur Rob Howlader and other senior officials saw the speaker and her entourage off at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, the handout said.
Dr Shirin Sharmin will participate in different sessions of the function and distribute certificates among the participants.
She will also visit the Scotland unit of CPA on March 15 and is expected to return home on March 17.
