Staff Reporter :Eight months after the decision was taken, the ruling Awami League has formally informed the Speaker about expulsion of former minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui from the party.In this regard, the AL sends a letter to the Speaker on Tuesday informing the expulsion, said a competent source from the party.Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury said that she got the letter from the ruling Awami League. “We will take decision after legal consultation whether Latif Siddiqui remain member of the parliament,”October 12 last and axed his party’s presidium post and primary membership on October 24 last amid waves of criticisms following his derogatory remarks on hajj and Tabligh Jamaat in the USA last year.Earlier on September 28, 2014, former Posts and Telecommunications Minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui made the disparaging remarks hurting the religious sentiment at a views-exchange meeting with expatriates from Tangail in New York.
