Ananda Group of Bakalia lost Tk 50 lakh due to continuous rains

The lower part of East Bakalia has been inundated due to three days of continuous rain in Chittagong city. As a result, the factory at Anand Group of Industries in Bakalia was submerged. Their imported paper got soaked in water. The value of which is approximately Tk 50 lakh.
Mohammad Yusuf, Managing Director of Ananda Group of Industries, said the low-lying areas, including East Bakalia, along the city’s Karnafuli coast have been inundated due to continuous rains for the past three days.
He further added that Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) and Chittagong City Corporation are drowning in unplanned urbanization in the lower part of the city including East Baklia. The residents of the area are living in misery.
The water has entered the ground floor of the house due to submergence. Residents are having difficulty cooking. Not only that, my own institution is in East Bakalia.
All the factories of my Anand Group of Industry are floating in the water due to continuous rains. About 50 lakh rupees has been lost due to water entering the factory. He said, “My imported paper is soaked in water. Which I can no longer use for cutting. Factory machineries are damaged. As a result, the workers are unemployed. We strongly demand the cleaning of drains including unplanned dams for rapid drainage.”
