After a lot of drama over the two months resignation issue, Superintendent of Police Babul Aktar may join his duty soon as the Ministry concerned has showed him a green signal to resume the job with the force, Police Headquarter sources said.
They confirmed that the Ministry considered to
resume his career as Babul continued his trying to get back the job focusing on the police force’s image as well as the humanity after his signature on the so-called resign letter at custody of Detective Branch on June 26.
The Home Ministry received Babul Aktar’s application to withdraw his resign latter in connection with the job, they said.
Senior Secretary of the Home Ministry Md Mozammel Haque Khan told reporters that both the resignation and withdrawal applications of Babul Aktar have been passed on to the President as per due process.
“Babul Aktar had wanted to resign before, but now he wants to stay. We are sending all applications to the President. When a decision is made, we will act accordingly,” said the senior secretary.
On August 3, Babul Aktar submitted a written application to rejoin work at the Police Headquarters, but the officials concerned told him that he would not be able to join.
On August 4, he submitted a written application to the Police Headquarters DIG (Administration). In the application he said that he was residing at his father-in-law’s house to take care of his two children, who have to regularly be taken to see the doctor. He asked for his absence to be regarded as leave and requested to join work once again.
On August 9, SP Babul sent an application to the Senior Secretary of Home Ministry to withdraw his signed resignation letter. He said that on June 26, he was forced to sign the resignation letter. In an application to the Home Secretary, he said that he did not resign on his own, rather he was forced to do so. The Inspector General of Police, however, said that Babul resigned of his own.
“Babul was not forced and he resigned on his own will. We waited for a long time before sending his letter of resignation to the Home Ministry,” replied IGP AKM Shahidul Hoque to reporters when asked about the allegation of forcing Babul to resign after his wife’s murder.
On June 5, three assailants stabbed and shot dead Mahmuda Khanom Mitu, wife of Babul Aktar, after she left her Nizam Road house on foot around 6:35am to put her son on a school bus at GEC intersection in the port city Chittagong.
