South Zone take huge lead on day 3

South Zone batsmen shone as they have mustered 245-run overall lead over Islami Bank East Zone after the third day’s play of fourth round four-day Bangladesh Cricket League held on Thursday at Sylhet cricket Stadium.
Having a healthy 103-run first innings lead, South Zone started their second innings on the third day afternoon and scored 142 for 3 at stumps.
Fazle Mahmud (42) and Shariar Nafees (24) shared 65-run for the second wicket stand after South Zone lost their opener Amamul Haque early in the innings.
Tushar Imran with 46 and Soumya Sarkar with 29 on the crease as bails were drawn for the day.
Mohammad Ashraful bagged two South Zone’s wickets conceding 23 runs.
Earlier, East Zone resumed their first innings on the third day with overnight score at 95 for 3 and finally they were all out for 300 in reply to a South Zone’s first innings total of 403.
East Zone lost three more wickets early on the third day with the score board stuck at 126 for 6. Then Jakker Ali and Mohammad Saifuddin came to crease to stop the rot as the duo shared an important 114-run for the second wicket stand.
Jaker played a responsible 76 runs off 154-ball laced with six boundaries and four over boundaries while Mohammad Saifuddin contributed an unbeaten 75-run off 146-ball that included nine boundaries and two over boundaries.
Kamrul Islam Rabbi finished his spell with a impressive figure of 4 for 93 runs while veteran left arm spinner Abdur Razzak and Nayeem Hasan shared three wickets each giving away 68 and 97 runs respectively.
