South Africa score 233/4 in first Test against BD

South Africa scored 233 for the loss of four wickets against Bangladesh on the first day of the first Cricket Test at Kingsmead in Durban of South Africa on Thursday.
Put into bat first, Dean Elgar and Sarel Erwee the two openers made a good start as they put on together 113 runs in the opening stand before Elgar was caught behind by wicketkeeper Liton Das off Khaled Ahmed.
Dean Elgar knocked a sedate 67. His 101-ball innings was laced with 11 fours. Elgar reached the fifty-run landmark using 60 deliveries with nine boundaries.
After Elgar’s departure, Sarel Erwee could stay at the crease for a short period as he was bowled out by spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz when South Africa’s total was 117 for the loss of two wickets.
Sarel notched up a patient 41. His 102-ball knock was decorated with six fours.
After Sarel’s removal, Keegan Petersen and Temba Bavuma added together 29 runs for the third wicket partnership before Petersen (19) was run out by Mehidy Hasan Miraz when the hosts’ score was 146 for the loss of three wickets.
After Petersen’s dismissal, Temba Bavuma and Ryan Rickelton added together 34 runs in the fourth wicket stand before Rickelton (21) was caught at the mid-on by Mominul Haque off Ebadot Hossain when the home side’s total was 180 for the loss of four wickets.
After Rickelton’s departure, Temba Bavuma and Kyle Verreynne scored together 53 runs for the unbroken fifth wicket partnership before the two umpires pocketed the bails for the first day.
Temba Bavuma remained unbeaten with 53. His 119-ball innings was studded with six fours.
Kyle Verreynne remained unbeaten with 27 runs. His 64-ball knock had saw three fours.
Khaled Ahmed, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Ebadot Hossain took one wicket each for 49, 57 and 58 runs respectively.
