BSS, New Delhi :

Former Indian Cricket captain Sourav Ganguly is set to become joint-secretary of the Cricket Association of Bengal. His formal entry into cricket administration will take place following the association’s 83rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) on July 27.
Confirming this, Sourav’s elder brother Snehasish – a former first class cricketer who has also served as a CAB assistant secretary in 2007-08 – said reporter “Yes, Sourav is coming to the CAB.He will file his nomination for the post of joint- secretary this week. His club (Barisha Sporting) will file his nomination on his behalf.”
The position of joint-secretary will fall vacant with the departure of Sujan Mukherjee, who completes his four-year term this month.
Asked whether Sourav, who has several commitments, would be able to give sufficient time to the state association, Snehasish said, “He has to, and he will. Otherwise he wouldn’t have come to cricket administration.”
Inside the CAB’s corridors of power, Sourav appears to be a popular choice. “We will welcome him with an embrace. And given his stature as a cricketer, he will work on his own terms. Yes, he has to give sufficient time to Bengal cricket to become a good administrator and I believe he will do that,” Mukherjee said.
