Election Commission Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed on Wednesday ridiculed at moving High Court by independent candidate Ashraful Hossain Alam, better known as Hero Alam, against the Commission’s decision.
‘He is an independent candidate from Bogura. First, the returning officer cancelled his nomination, then he appealed to us and
the Commission rejected it. Then, he moved High Court, got his nomination cleared and sent a list of candidates attaching his election symbol to us,’ said Helaluddin.
The Commission Secretary said various directives are coming from the High Court. ‘We are a bit concerned and also busy,’ he said.
He told the election officials that still list of candidates has not been finalised in a number of constituencies. ‘I think some more changes may happen. We will print ballots of constituencies when the list of candidates is finalised. We want to reach ballots to the polling centres a week ahead of the voting day. Where there is problem, we will print ballots of those areas later. We will have to accumulate as per directives of the High Court,’ he told the officials.
