Soumya, Mithun to play for Kandahar in APL

The drape of the first season of the Afghanistan Premier League (APL) will be drawn on 5th of October in Dubai.
Although not being called in auction, two more Bangladeshi cricketers apart from pacer Taskin Ahmed have made their way through to the inaugural stage of the first franchise based tournament of Afghanistan.
One of the franchises of APL Kandahar Knights have included Bangladesh opener Soumya Sarkar and middle order batsman Mohammad Mithun resulting three Bangladeshi cricketers to play for the aforesaid franchise this year.
The inclusion was confirmed by Kandahar Knights through the social media in which they published their full squad on Wednesday.
Three Tiger young guns will have the opportunity to play with big names of world cricket like Brendon McCullum and Tymal Mills who also joined in Kandahar earlier.
Prior to this, veteran Bangladesh performers wicket keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim and opener Tamim Iqbal were auctioned and purchased by Nangarhar Leopards although Tamim would probably miss out the whole tournament due to finger injury.
In the first encounter of the season, Mushfiqur Rahim’s Nangarhar Leopards will face Kandahar Knights.
The nineteen day long competition is scheduled to end on 21st of October this year.
Five franchise teams will play 23 matches all together to win the title in which each team will face the other twice in the group stage.
