Bangladesh had a sorrow start in the Hero Asia Cup Hockey as the hosts lost to Pakistan by 7-0 goals in their first Pool-A match at the Moulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on Wednesday.
Pakistan totally dominated over the home side and made it a one-sided affair.
Abu Mahmood of Pakistan opened the floodgate from a penalty corner of Mohammad Rizwan which cam on his way from Tasawar Abbas in the 19th minute of the play.
Ahmad Shakil made it 2-0 by a penalty stroke in the 33rd minute of the game.
Earlier, Russell Mahmud Jimmy of Bangladesh was deprived from a goal when his hit bounced back from the side bar in the 27th minute of the match.Mohammad Arslan of Pakistan increased the tally into 3-0 by push the ball into the net from a reverse hit of Shan Ali in the 34th minute of the encounter.
Abu Mahmood improved the tally into 4-0 using a penalty corner of Mohammad Rizwan which Mahmood got from Tasawar Abbas in the 41st minute of the game.
After six minutes, Shakeel Ahmad made it 5-0 by his solo effort.Abu Mahmood increased the tally into 6-0 by a forceful hit in the 49th minute of the game.
Mohammad Arslan sealed the fate of the match (7-0) capitalizing a penalty corner of Mohammad Rizwan in the 59th minute of the match.
Tomorrow Bangladesh will take on India in their second Pool- A match of the Pool-A at 5.30 pm at the same venue.
