Sonargaon Textiles, one of the major industries in Barisal, declared layoff from Saturday due to shortage in raw materials.
The mill was established in 1985 at Rupatali industrial area of Barisal has monthly production capacity of 5, 78,302 lbs of 24/1-40/1 count-yarn. Khansons Group owned this mill including two Textiles, one Jute and one Cement Industry in South Bengal at Barisal over a decade.
After visiting the spot it was learnt that layoff notice was hoisted at the closed mill-gate declared that supply of raw material (raw-cotton) has been stopped due to overall situation of the country.
So the mill authority declaring layoff at the mill from Saturday to Tuesday and will timely inform the workers about next decision.
Project Director of the mill signing the notice said the step has been taken under section 12 of Bangladesh Labour Act 2006.
