A prodigal son allegedly killed his mother by chopping as he was denied to pay money for buying drug at Baimmakhali Sagorpara area under Pekua upazila here on Sunday morning.
The deceased mother was identified as Dilwara Begum, 50, wife of Nurul Alam of the area. She was mother of four sons and one daughter.
Local sources said, the alleged son Azizur Rahman, 25, asked his mother to give money for buying hemp. As she refused to give money, the son became angry and hit his mother’s head with a sharp chopper, causing serious injuries.
Locals rushed her to Nur Diagnostic Centre in Pekua upazila headquarters, but on-duty doctor Mujibur Rahman declared her dead.
