At least two persons were murdered by their relatives in Kaliganj and Kaliakoir Upazilas of Gazipur district.
In Kaliganj, a man was killed allegedly by his mentally retarded son at Uttarsom of the upazila around 4:30am on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Hye, 55.He was a businessman.
Local sources said that deceased Abdul Hye decided to send his son named Ridoy, 20, to the rehabilitation centre for treatment.
Knowing it, Ridoy struck his sleeping father’s head with a stone and stabbed randomly.
Seriously injured Hye was taken to the nearest Upazila Health Complex. But Duty doctor declared him dead.
Rajib Chakrabarty, Officer-in-Charge (investigation) of Kaliganj Police Station confirmed the matter to media.
At Kaliakoir, 38 years old Rahim Miah was killed by his drug addict brother-in-law after an argument rose between them on Saturday night when the former refused to give him money.
The deceased was son of late Abdul Aziz of Laksam Upazila of Cumilla, who used to live on the land of his father-in-law in Mouchak Arabari Digirpar area in the Kaliakoir upazila.
During the conflict at one stage, angry Sajib struke his brother-in-law’s neck with a musical instrument, leaving him critically injured. After the incident, locals brought Rahim to Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared him dead.
Alamgir Hossain Mazumder, Office In-Charge (OC) of Kaliakoir Police Station confirmed the news to media that police recovered the body and sent it to Shahid Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
