Female students of a residential hall of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) on Friday demonstrated on the campus demanding resolution of water crisis in their dormitory.
The students of Sultana Rajia Hall blocked the main road on the campus and staged a sit-in in front of Vice-Chancellor residence at around 1:30 pm on Friday. They uttered slogans demanding immediate solution of the water supply crisis in their dormitory.
The students alleged that water tanks remain empty for longer period. However when the water comes through the tap is muddy and unusable. So, they are passing their days almost without water, the students added.
The hall administration has been informed about the sufferings but no solution came through.
Later, BAU unit Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) expressed their joining together with the protest at around 2:00pm.
Provost Prof Dr Kazi Shahanara Ahmed said that, I told administration and engineering section six times but it took much time to solve the matter.
BAU administration said that no immediate solution is possible until Sunday as university and bank will remain closed that time.
