A Dhaka court yesterday rejected a bail petition of Ashish Roy Chowdhury, an accused in a case filed under the Narcotics Control Act. He is also accused in the film actor Sohel Chowdhury murder case.
Magistrate Shanta Akhter of Dhaka CMM Court passed the order after lawyer of the accused submitted the bail petition.
Ashish was arrested on April 5 from his Gulshan residence.
During the arrest campaign, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) seized 17 bottles of foreign liquor from his residence.
Later, a case was filed against him with Gulshan Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act. He was sent to the jail after he was produced in the court on April 7, 2022. However, he is yet to be shown arrested in Sohel Chowdhury murder case. The next hearing of the murder case will be held on April 17.
On December 18, 1998, Sohel Chowdhury was shot dead by miscreants at Trumps Club in Abedin Tower, in the capital’s Banani area.
