Social movement against violence, sabotage stressed

Deputy Commissioner (DC) M. Abdus Samad unequivocally said there was no alternative to building social movement against violence, sabotage and drug to have a better and peaceful society.
“In this context, the journalists can play vital role to attain the cherished goal through publishing awareness and constructive reports in their respective media in this regard as they are called the conscience of the nation”, he said.
Newly joined DC M. Abdus Samad made the comments while addressing a view sharing meeting with the journalists working in print and electronic media including news agency at the conference room of district collectorate building here on Monday afternoon.
The meeting was also addressed, among others, by additional deputy commissioner (General) Abu Bakar Siddique, and journalists KM Rezaul Haque, Nuruzzaman Prodhan, Sarker M. Shahiduzzaman, Shamim-ul-Haque Shahin, Atik Babu, and Saddam Hossain Paban.
It is quite impossible to prevent violence and sabotage including drug
trading in the society to a single department if the journalists do not come forward with the mentality to help the implementing agencies including administration, the DC said.
He also sought whole hearted cooperation of all the media men to turn the district into a model one in the country through reaching the desired services to the doorsteps of the common people.
