POPI (CDVAW) Project, an NGO and other human rights organisation arranged a discussion meeting, colourfull rally and documentary film show marking the nternational Prevention of Repression and Violence against Women and Children Fortnight on Wednesday.
A discussion on Safe Home, Safe School-College for all Women and Girls’ was held at Local Collectorate Premise on Wednesday morning. DC GSM Zafurullah attended as Chief Guest while CDVAW Project Manager Md Saiful Quddus chaired the meeting. It was addressed among others by, District Women Affiers Officer Kamija Yesmin, Senior Adv Nasir Uddin Faruki, Mohila Somity President Sultana Rajia and Upazila Vice-Chairman Kamrunnahar Luna. DC Zafurullah said freeing youths from various misconceptions regarding reproductive health is very vital and he called for building a social resistance against child marriage and teenage pregnancies. There is no alternative to creating community awareness through raising school- based awareness on adolescence for combating the existing rate of child marriage.
