Speakers at a function stressed for creating social awareness to ensure marketing of formalin-free fish in the local market to save people from wrath of many deadly diseases.
They made the comment while addressing a function arranged by the Fisheries Department, Narsingdi, at local circuit house on Monday on the occasion of controlling use of formalin in fish and declaration of Narsingdi Sadar upzila as the first formalin-free fish market in the country.
Secretary for Fisheries and Livestock Dr Salina Afroza was present at the function as chief guest with Deputy Commissioner Abu Hena Morshed Zaman in the chair.
Director General of Fisheries Department Sayed Arif Azad, Deputy Director of the department, Dhaka division, Farida Begum, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Suraiya Begum were present as special guests.
