A court here on Tuesday sentenced a snatcher to 10 years rigorous imprisonment in a case filed for recovering arms that was used for snatching. The court of Chittagong Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Shah-e-Nur delivered the verdict convicting snatcher Mohammad Minhaj, hailed from city’s Khulshi area.
Court sources said a team of Chittagong Metropolitan police arrested Minhaj on August 12, 2010. Police recovered a country made LG gun from Khulshi wireless colony area, under the police station, according to his confession.
Later, a case was filed with Khulshi thana against him in this connection. The investigation officer of the case submitted a charge-sheet against Minhaj on August 25, in 2010.
The court examined a total of six prosecution witnesses, out of 14, and passed the verdict, the court sources said, adding that of the convict Minhaj had been absconding after getting bail from the court.
