Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized huge smuggled goods and drugs worth about Tk 72.39 crore by conducting raids in different border areas during the month of October- 2019.
The seized drugs included 10,62,818 pieces of yaba tablets, 40,234 bottles of phensidyl, 6,763 bottles of foreign wine, 181 liters of Bangla wine, 1.977 gram of heroin, 624 KG hemp and 96,734 pieces of other tablets.
Of the smuggled goods, 8 kg 299 gram gold, 5,648 pieces of imitation ornaments, 95,872 pieces cosmetics ornament, 4,120 sq feet wood, 2,986 kg tea, 14 trucks, 7 pickup vans, 3 private cars and 47 motorcycles were seized.
The seized arms included 3 pistols, 1 revolver, 2 pipe guns and around 17 round bullets.
BGB members also nabbed 292 persons, including 13 Indians and 5 Nigerians for their involvement in the smuggling. Legal actions have also been taken against them.
