Boarder Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized smuggled goods worth about Taka 566.76 crore from January to December last year across the country.
The recovered drugs included 5,32,141 bottles of phensidyl, 10,82,548 yaba tablets, 1,83,442 bottles of foreign wine, 64,87 litres of locally produced wine, 5,438 kilograms of ganja, 34.781 KG heroin and 49,646 drug injections.
In the last year, members of BGB arrested 11,966 people on charges of illegal
movement and smuggling, a press release of BGB said.
Of the arrested, 1579 were handed over to adjacent thanas and 26,323 cases were filed.
