Smoking increases risk of Covid-19 infection: DGHS

The Health Directorate on Monday pointed out that the smoking is increasing the risk of contracting the coronavirus.
Dr. Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) urged the smokers to give up the habit to save themselves from the virus as it is increasing the risk of infection.
She made this call during the regular press briefing on the coronavirus situation in the country.
She said, “I would like to highlight one thing in particular that those who smoke should give it up because it increases the risk of coronavirus infections.”
“You can get rid of this risk yourselves easily. Also, should stop drinking beverages which are harmful to human health,” she said.
The Additional Director General also suggested developing healthy eating habits to reduce the risk of infection.
She suggested all to include fruits and vegetables in daily
meals which are rich in Vitamin C and zinc.
Do not eat stale or fatty foods, she suggested.
Dr. Sultana urged to maintain healthy diet and lifestyles to keep body fit to fight against Corona diseases.
