Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun on Thursday said that an initiative has been taken to include quota system in the ‘Public Procurement Act’ for the purchase of a certain amount of goods and services from the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
“Through introducing quota system in public procurement, SME entrepreneurs will be benefited and they able to play an important role in the country’s economy,” he said.
The minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the SME Foundation’s social campaign programme to motivate consumers for using local products made by SME entrepreneurs, said a press release.
