Smart schools to make education easier

block
FOR the first time in the country, the government on November 15 introduced the ‘Smart School’ at Pirpur village of Alokdia Union Parishad in Chuadanga Sadar Upazila spending Tk 5 lakh. The Smart School concept is comparatively a new idea in our country. But in the developed countries it is nothing new. It’s an institutional framework with a technology-based teaching method in the field of education aiming to introduce ICT education at secondary level. It will make the learning interesting, easier and enjoyable one.
Organisers of the Chuadanga School said the purpose of this initiative was to ensure a vibrant and effective teaching and learning environment for students to cope with future challenges as global citizens. In Smart schools, technology will be used in taking attendance and teaching in the classroom. Through it, the students could also prepare themselves for the Information Age.
Local Upazila Nirbahi Officer and one of the organisers of this Smart school, said four ‘Rongin’ schools were established in the Upazila earlier. The plan of launching a Smart school came from the concept of colourful schools by bringing both the students and teachers under the digital attendance system. Alongside bringing it under electricity network, the school had also been brought under the surveillance of close circuit cameras. Besides, the multimedia system and internet had been put in place in the school classrooms.
The education systems in Hong Kong, Finland, and South Korea are often lauded as among the best in the world, scoring highly in international standard. In fact, education is a practicing method to prepare a generation to fit it with rest of the world. So, from the very beginning, the pupils can be taught a ‘core knowledge’ of facts and figures.
When the nation is taking preparation to achieve the status of a developed country by 2041, there is no alternative but to take massive programmes to make the future generation educated in a technology-based method. We must say, the Education Ministry should give an emphasis on supporting every individual, every child regardless of their economic or social background in this regard.
