The family of journalist Borhanuddin Mozakker, who was shot dead in a clash between two rival groups at Basurhat in Companyganj upazila of Noakhali district on February 19, has demanded justice.
The demand came from a press conference held at Noakhali District Press Club on Thursday morning. Mozakker’s elder brother Nur Uddin read out a written statement.
He said apart from performing his duties as a journalist, Mozakker was also involved in various social and humanitarian activities. He used to stand by the sick and dying patients, and donated his blood 19 times.
Mentioning his good deeds towards the society, he expressed shock at murder of his brother.
Mozakker’s father Mawlana Nurul Huda Md Nowab Ali demanded exemplary punishment to those involved in the killing of his son and sought the prime minister’s intervention in this regard.
A correspondent of Dainik Bangla Samachar and Barta Bazar Online News Portals, Mozakker received bullet injuries during a clash between supporters of Basurhat Pourasava mayor Abdul Quader Mirza and the Upazila Awami League organising secretary Mizanur Rahman Badal at Chaprashirhat Purbo Bazar in Companyganj in the afternoon on February 19.
He succumbed to his bullet injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 10:45pm on Saturday.
