Two centuries by captain Mahmudullah and Marshall Ayub steered Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club back to winning ways after two successive defeats in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League beating all-losers Cricket Coaching School (CCS) by 90 runs at BSKP ground -3 in Savar on Tuesday.
In the day’s other matches, Dhaka Mohammedan SC beat another all-losers Kalabagan Cricket Academy by four wickets under D/L method in Fatullah while Gazi Group Cricketers defeated Kalabagan KC by six wickets at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
Sent into bat first in BKSP, Sheikh Jamal DC piled up a comfortable 290 for 5 in 50 overs featuring 203 runs in 39 overs in the 3rd wicket stand by Mahmudullah Riyad and Marshall Ayub.
Two down Mahmudullah Riyad made a century scoring 130 runs off 139 deliveries with eight fours and five sixes and was adjudged the man of the match in 200th list-A match while one down Marshall Ayub hit his maiden ton in list -A match making 103 runs off 115 balls, including 12 boundaries.
Besides, Abullah al Mamun (16), Mahbubul Karim (16), Muktar Ali (11) were the other major contributors for Sheikh Jamal.
Mehrab Hossain grabbed three wickets for 45 runs while Saleh Ahmed Shawon took two wickets conceding 38 runs.
Chasing a huge target of 291 runs, Cricket Coaching School were all out for 200 runs in 48.3 overs with former national vice captain Rajin Saleh making 51 runs off 78 balls featuring one four and three sixes.
Besides, Saif Hasan (47), Pinak Ghosh (24), Uttam Sarkar (20), Ashrafun Nabi (15) and Refatuzzaman (12) were other main scorers for CCS.
BMAJ Mendis, Shafiul Islam and Muktar Ali took two wickets each conceding 15, 28 and 40 runs respectively.
In Fatullah, Kalabagan Cricket Academy batted first after losing the toss and were all out for 231 runs in 49.2 overs with Indian cricketer Jatin Sexena contributing the match highest 96 runs off 100 balls with seven fours and two sixes.
In the 4th wicket stand, one down Jatin pairing with number five Mehedi Hasan Miraj scored just 100 runs in 17 overs. Miraj made a half century scoring just 50 runs off 58 balls hitting one six.
Besides, opener Mysukur Rahman (31), tail-ender Rifat Pradhan (18) and opener Irfan Sukkur (10) were the other major contributors for Kalabagan KC reaching the double figure.
Spinner Enamul Haque Jr grabbed three wickets for 46 runs while Naeem Islam Jr and Naeem Islam took two wicket each giving away 54 and 56 runs respectively.
In reply, Mohammedan SC chased a revised target of 207 runs in 43 overs, scoring 210 runs for 6 in 42.3 overs as the match was stopped in 21st over for rain during Mohammedan’s chase.
With the day’s feat, Mohammedan SC topped the league table jointly securing eight points from five matches.
One down Sri Lankan left handed batsman Upal Tharanga hammered an unconquered 90 runs off 114 balls featuring eight fours and one six to be adjudged man of the match.
Besides, opener Ejaz Ahmed (60), captain Mushfiqur Rahim (23) and Naeem Islam (11) were the other main scorers for Mohammedan SC.
Bishwanath Halder picked up two wickets for 39 runs.
