Six women entrepreneurs awarded

Six women entrepreneurs have been awarded for their contributions in different sectors of the country.
Women Entrepreneurs Association (WEA) gave the awards in recognition of their contributions in its Annual General Meeting 2017 held in the city on Monday.
Nasreen Rab Ruba, President of WEA, presided over the meeting while Vice- President Nabia Binte Amin moderated the programme..
The winners of the award are: Rokeya Rahman, Chairman of MIDAS Financing Limited
Preety Chakrabarty, Chairman of Universal Medical College and Hospital; Rokeya Quader Tareen, Chairman of Desh Garments Limited; Nahid Osman, CEO, Art Club Bangladesh and a celebrity chef; Rahima Sultana Rita, Chairman, Harmony Spa, Cleopatra Salon and Epic Institute; and Shabana Ali, Designer of Shabana’s.
Rokeya Rahman earned the lifetime achievement award while the other five entrepreneurs have been given woman of the year-2017 award in the function.
All the award winners spoke in the programme and expressed their happiness over the association’s recognition of their contributions to society.
The WEA President presented the annual report in the meeting through power point presentation.
Aklima Sultana, Joint-Treasurer and Roksana Anwar, member of the executive committee, among others, spoke on the occasion.
Participants in the programme said the association has been accelerating towards huge success after the election of Nasreen Rab Ruba as its President in 2015.
Nasreen has started giving award to the women entrepreneurs every year to encourage females in this field.
The WEA President said a total 21 person have been given award so far during her presidency.
She also said the women entrepreneurs have started selling their products through internet creating Facebook group and pages and using other options of online.
 “The women entrepreneurs are now participating in different fairs and shows at home and abroad to introduce their products and services to the buyers,” Nasreen said.
She also said the association is helping all women entrepreneurs to develop their businesses. It always supports the new ones to the way of success. The organisation has nearly 1,700 members, she added.
Other speakers in the meeting also praised the role of Nasreen Rab Ruba to encourage women in the challenging fields of business.
