At least six more persons were killed in separate road crashes across the country from Saturday night to Sunday.
Of them, one died in Dhaka, two in Mymensingh, one in Brahmanbaria, one in Jashore and another in Rangpur districts.
In Dhaka, A man was killed in a road crash at Zero Point intersection in Dhaka’s Gulistan on Sunday afternoon.
Identity of the deceased could not be known instantly, said Waliur Rahman, Sub-Inspector of Paltan Police Station.
A bus of Khaza Baba Paribahan ran over the man around 3:00pm beside the road divider, leaving him seriously injured.
He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the doctors declared him dead, the SI added.
In Brahmanbaria, a youth was killed after falling from a running truck in Sarail upazila of the district on Sunday.The deceased was identified as Santush Roy, 25, son of Hari Roy, hailed from Adaowr area under Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj.
Hossen Sarkar, Officer-in-Charge of Khatihata Highway Police Station, told media. In Jashore , a college student was killed while another injured when a pick-up van hit a motorcycle in Manirampur upazila of Jessore on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Tazimmul Alam Obhi, 21, son of one Alam Master of Gobindapur village of the upazila. He was a second-year honours student of Jessore Government City College.
Mokarram Hossain, Officer-in-charge (OC) of Manirampur Police Station confirmed the news to media.
In Rangpur, Agitated locals blocked the Dhaka-Dinajpur Highway in protest, as a Class-X student of Rangpur Collectorate School & College was crushed to death by a speedy bus in Modern area of the city on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Zeon.
As the news spread, locals started agitation by blocking the highway. Police went to the scene, to tame the situation, but failed.
Dhaka’s road communication with Dinajpur, Panchagarh, Thakurgaon and Nilphamari districts remained suspended for few hours.
In Mymensingh, two motorcyclists were killed when a microbus rammed a motorcycle at Char Sreerampur of Gauripur upazila of Mymensingh on Saturday evening.
The deceased were identified as Sadequl Islam, 20 and Arafat Rahman, 18. Gauripur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ashiqur Rahman told the media that one biker died on the spot while another died in Gauripur upazila health complex.
