A three-member team from the Bureau of Public Procurement, Nigeria, visited the Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU) of IMED on Monday to exchange views and knowledge on electronic government procurement CPTU has implemented.
The Nigerian BPP team is led by its Director Aliya Edogi Aliya and two other members are Nasir Bello and Elogsaka Ekemma.
Nigeria has started implementing e-GP and the objective of the visit is to have hands-on knowledge from CPTU and other large procuring agencies like Roads and Highways Department on how the online procurement system has successfully been implemented in Bangladesh, said a press release.
The team called on Secretary, IMED, Abul Mansur Md. Faizullah, ndc, at his office on the Planning Ministry campus at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in Dhaka. They apprised the Secretary of their procurement, its value and needs to digitize the process. The Secretary touched upon a plan to turn CPTU into an independent authority and need for compliance by the development partners with the country procurement system. “The procurement system of all DPs is not the same. So they need to follow our country procurement system in the projects funded by them,” he observed. He also mentioned that the government has to pay back their project loans with interest.
