Six HuJi men put on remand

A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed six suspected members of Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami (HuJi) on a fresh remand for two days in a case filed against them under the Anti-terrorism Act.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Masud Sheikh passed the order after DB
 Inspector Alamgir Hossain Patwari produced them in the court, seeking a seven-day remand for more interrogation. Earlier, they were put on a six-day remand each.
The suspected HuJi people are Sazzad Ul Alam alias Mukti Master, 43, Abul Bashar, 25, Ashraful Alam, 26, Mejbahur Rahman Tagar, 36, Shafiqul Islam Palash, 37, and Azizur Rahman Babu, 32.
Detectives arrested them from the city’s Uttara and old part of Dhaka. Acting on tip off, a team of Detective Branch (South Division) of Police conducted a drive at Siraj ud-Daulah Park in Jindabahar area of old Dhaka and arrested them when they were holding a secret meeting there.
