Six drown in districts

In separate incidents, six people-a man and five minor children-have drowned in Pabna, Sirajganj and Chandpur districts.
In Sirajganj, a man and his two minor children drowned while they were fishing in Chalan beel at Nafo Syedpur village in Taras upazila on Monday morning.
The deceased were identified as Altaf Hossain, 40, a resident of the village and a teacher of Rarimzani Qawmi Madrasah, his son Lapul, 6, and daughter Anita, 8.
Victims’ relatives said Altaf Hossain along with his two children went missing since they had gone for fishing in the water body near the village around 11am on Monday.
On Tuesday morning, locals found their bodies floating on the water and informed police. Police went to the spot and recovered the bodies. Officer-in-charge of Taras Police Station Ataur Rahman confirmed the incident.
In Pabna, two primary schoolchildren drowned in a water body at Kulunia village in Sadar upazila on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Sadia, 7, daughter of Kamrul Islam, and Yeasin, 7, son of Siddikur Rahman of the village. They were Class-II students of Kulunia Government Primary School.
Alauddin Porag, the headmaster of the primary school, said a group of children, including Sadia and Yeasin, went to the water body near Kulunia Dam at the village around 2pm for taking their bath. At one stage, Sadia and Yeasin drowned in the water body.
Rescued by family members, they were rushed to Pabna General Hospital where doctors declared them dead.
In Chandpur, a minor child drowned in a pond in Bagadi area of Sadar upazila on Tuesday afternoon.
