A woman and her son sustained burn injuries as a gas cylinder exploded at Andulbaria village in Jibannagar upazila on Friday afternoon.
Family sources said, the gas cylinder went off with a big bang while Habiba Sultana, 35, and her son Tanvir Ahmed, 14, were trying to give gas connection to the oven, leaving them injured.
The injured were first taken to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital where doctors referred them to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in the capital.
Duty doctor at the Sadar Hospital Kaniz Naima said Tanvir suffered burns on 50 percent of his body while Habiba 40 percent.
