Sinha killing OC Pradeep lands in jail

Sacked OC of Teknaf Police Station Pradeep Kumar Das, who remanded in the murder case of retired Major Sinha Mohammad Rashed khan, reportedly did not divulge any information even after 15 days in remand. Therefore, he has been sent to jail as there is no opportunity to apply for remand more than 15 days.
A Cox’s Bazar court has ordered to send sacked OC Pradeep to jail after 15 days-remand in four phases ended.
However, RAB’s-15 Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Khairul Islam, who is also Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, said, “Former OC Pradeep Kumar, who was arrested in connection with Sinha’s murder, has been remanded for 15 days in four phones.
In this time he has given some less important information regarding the case.
We are checking and rectifying the information to know the fact.
At the end of remand, we handed him over to the court, ASP added.
Earlier, health check up of Pradeep Kumar Das was done at Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital.
On Tuesday afternoon, a RAB team produced him before the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Tamanna Farah. Later he was sent to jail around 4.30 pm.
It is mentionable that OC Pradeep is the second accused in the muder case. He was first taken on remand on August 6.
Meanwhile, around 12.30pm on Tuesday, the same court placed three accused on a three-day remand each in one of the cases filed over the murder case.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) prayed for four-day remand for each of the accused but the court granted three-day remand for each, said RAB’s Senior ASP Khairul Islam.
The three accused-Nurul Amin, Nizam Uddin and Ayas Uddin-were also mentioned as witnesses in two other cases filed by police in connection with the killing incident.
Sinha was killed in police firing at Baharchhara police check-post in Teknaf upazila on July 31. Later, police arrested his two companions – Shipra and Shahedul Islam Sifat.
On August 5, Sinha’s sister Sharmin Shahria Ferdous filed a case with the Senior Judicial Magistrate Court of Teknaf against nine people including Pradeep Kumar Das and Liakat Ali.
