Sammilito Samajik Andolon (SSA) on Thrusday formed a rally on Swaparjito Swadhinata premises near teachers-student centre (TSC) of Dhaka University demanding a progressive, scientific and discrimination free single stream education system instead of multiple streams system prevailing in the country.
They also submitted a memorandum to the prime minister through an official with mass signatures which they collected from a campaign in last three months after bringing out a procession.
To spread an anti-racial, democratic and progressive education system, a uniform education system has to be executed, where all the students of the country will study through a discrimination free single medium, the speakers said at the rally.
While reading out the memorandum, Abdul Matin Bhuiyan, presidium member of the organisation said that three kinds of education system are prevailing in the country- general education which is befitting the nation, expensive and foreign culture based English medium curriculum for the rich and backdated madrasha education.
Students from the three mediums are different from the others by thinking and behavior. Three kinds of citizen are being produced through the three mediums which hinder to form national unity, solidarity and also contradict ideology of liberation war. So a single stream education system is a must.
They also demanded elimination of all discriminations from the all education systems including Madrasha. Their other demands are- similar curriculum and syllabus have to be adopted at the primary and secondary level.
Vocational education have to be introduced at all level so that students will become self reliant after completing their education. President of the organisation Ajoy Roy presided over the rally, while Oikya Nap President Pankaj Bhattacharya, Prof Syed Anwar Hossain, Presidium member of the organisation Dr Nur Mohammad Talukder and Ziauddin Tareque Ali also spoke among others.
