State minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology (IT) Tarana Halim said that the verification of SIM information through SMS will begin from October 15.
Decision has been taken to send SMS to verify the SIM cards, which had been registered before 2012, she added.
The Identity of the user, who has more than one SIM cards, will be detected through this system.
The state minister made this disclosure on Tuesday while talking to the representatives of the mobile phone operators and national identity card authorities at her office in secretariat in city.
Presenting the information regarding the number of total subscribers till September 21 across the country, she further said that 6,179 NID only have been used in taking the whole number of SIM cards from six operators.
Moreover, as many as 14,117 SIM cards have been registered against the national identity (NID) card of a single person in the country.
A total of 11,728 SIM cards have been registered against the NID of another person, the state minister added.
The telephone operators will start using biometrics system in their service centers from November 1 on test and finally from December 16.
