English department of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia celebrated its silver jubilee and first alumni reunion programme on the campus with merriment.
IU Vice-Chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari inaugurated a grand rally recently by releasing balloons as Pro-VC Professor M Shahinoor Rahman, Treasurer Professor M Selim Toha and English department Chairman Professor AHM Akatrul Islam accompanied him.
The rally started from the premises of the university faculty building with the participation of former and current teachers, students and staff of the department.
It came to an end with sports competitions for the alumni, guests and kids at the football field near the TSCC of the university after parading the main roads of the campus.
In the afternoon, formation of alumni association, raffle draw and a colorful cultural show were held at the Birshreshtha Hamidur Rahman auditorium of the university.
A discussion, reminiscence, crests-giving ceremony and cultural programme were held at TSCC auditorium while Vice-Chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari addressed it as the chief guest.
Pro-VC Professor M Shahinoor Rahman and Treasurer Professor M Selim Toha spoke on the first day programme as the special guests with the department Chairman Professor AHM Aktarum Islam in the chair.
Marking the celebration, the authority decorated the department, auditorium and roads of the campus on the occasion of alumni reunion and silver jubilee program of the department.
