Nazmul Huda Bachchu passes away

Veteran film and television actor Nazmul Huda Bachchu has passed away. The 78-year-old died while undergoing treatment at city’s Square Hospital around 4:00am on Wednesday.
Bachchu was down with fever two days before Eid after returning from a shoot, said his wife Lina.
He was admitted to the hospital on the afternoon of Eid day after his blood pressure fell. “Heart problems were detected following tests on Tuesday. He died before we even understood what was happening.”
Bachchu mentored such stars as Bulbul Ahmed and Ujjal over the course of his long career. The actor hit the limelight in ‘70s and ‘80s with films as Surjo Dighal Bari, Sareng Bou, Behula Lokkhindor.
He went on to act in Chandrokotha, Srabon Megher Din, Doria Parer Doulata, Chandra Grohon, Bidrohi Padma, Agyatnama and Runway.
He also acted in numerous television dramas and regularly featured in skits on the popular magazine show Ittyadi.
He received the National Film Award and various other prestigious prizes for his work. Bachchu lived at a flat in Dhaka’s Indira Road with his wife and three daughters.
The Bangladesh Television Dramatists and Playwrights Association President Syed Hasan Imam.
Funeral prayers for the actor will be held on Wednesday at Gulshan’s Azad Mosque after Zuhr, the family said.
Bachchu will be buried next to his father at the Banani graveyard after the prayers.
