Met office here on Tuesday upheld the cautionary signal number three for maritime ports for third consecutive day as a deep convection is continuously taking place over the North Bay.
Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three, Md Shahinul Islam, a meteorologist at Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), told BSS on Tuesday afternoon, adding, “We will provide further notice today on the basis of weather condition whether the signal will be upheld or not”.
Squally weather may affect the maritime ports, the North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh due to the conviction, he said.
All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
However, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal and
Chittagong divisions, at many places over Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rangpur division with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country in the next 24 hours as of 9 am on Tuesday, said a met office press release.
