A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Sightsavers and Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib Eye Hospital & Training Institute including three hospitals and eight NGOs operating health facilities recently at a restaurant in the city’s Dhanmondi.
Country Director of Sightsavers for Bangladesh Khondoker Ariful Islam, Additional Director General of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof AHM Enayet Hossain, Line Director of National Eye Care Prof Golam Mostafa and Renowned Eye specialist Prof Deen Mohammad Nurul Huq spoke at the event on the poor eyecare situation in Bangladesh.
The public hospitals entering into the agreement are Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib Eye Hospital & Training Institute, Rangpur Medical College Hospital and Mymensigh Medical college & Hospital, while the partner NGOs are Quasem Foundation (QF), Community Eye Care & Research Centre (CECRC), Prof MA Matin Memorial BNSB Base Eye Hospital, Khulna BNSB Eye Hospital, Dristidan Eye Hospital, Ad-din Welfare Centre, Dhaka Progressive Lions Eye Hospital, and Dr KZ BNSB Eye Hospital.
