Opener Shykat Ali struck a fluent 83 runs knock as Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club got off to a good start in the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League (DPL), crushing Khelaghar Samaj Kallayan Samity by 55 runs at BKSP-4 ground on Monday.
Shykat who smashed 10 fours and two sixes in his 79 ball-knock helped the side put up 276-9 after which the bowlers complemented his innings by holding Khelaghar back to 221-9 in 50-over allocation.
After Shykat set the platform up front, skipper Nurul Hasan Sohan and experienced Nasir Hossain played the key role in helping Sheikh Jamal amass a strong total.
Sohan smote five fours and one six to hit 58 off 67 while Nasir clattered 57 ball-57, striking two fours and four sixes.
Irfan Hossain was the most successful bowler for Khelaghar, claiming 4-43 while Khaled Ahmed and Masum Khan snared two wickets apiece.
