Shuvagata’s 100 helps Central Zone to take slender lead in BCL

Shuvagata Hom followed his six wicket haul as he slammed a brilliant century to help his Central Zone take a slender first innings against South Zone on the second day of four-day Bangladesh Cricket League held on Sunday at BKSP ground no 3 in Savar.
Right handed Suvagata Homs whose superb bowling spell saw South Zone, dismissed for 260 on Saturday once again stamped his authority also today he notched a scintillating 100 coming to bat at number eight when his team was staggering at 138 for six, even a total beyond 200 looked very far.
Even the likes of Mustafizur Rahman, Rubel Hossain and Abdur Razzak could not stop Shuvagata Homs from scoring his ton. Central began the day on 4 for no loss.
But 30 year old Mymensingh lad Shuvagata Homs was not ready to throw the towel as he almost fought a lone battle to post a brilliant ton off 125 deliveries studded with 11 glittering boundaries and one six.
Earlier in the day, Saif Hasan with 49 and Abdul Majid with 38 kept the scoreboard rolling for Central Zone and later Tabibur with 44 and Sharifullah with 14 helped Suvagata to take slender 39 runs leas as Central Zone were bowled out for 299. Abdur Razzak took 4 wickets for 118 runs for South Zone.
Earlier on Saturday South Zone scored 260 all out in first innings with middle order batsman Tushar Imran top scored with 81 runs followed by M Mithun 42, Al Amin 30.
Shuvagata Hom caused the major damage for South Zone as he grabbed six wickets conceding 91 runs. He was well supported by Abu Haider and Sharifullah who both picked up two wickets giving away 34 and 48 runs respectively.
South Zone will begin their second innings today.
