UNB, Dhaka :
Sushasoner Jonno Nagorik (Shujan), a non-government organisation working on good governance and election, on Tuesday suggested the Election Commission for introducing ‘No Vote’ again and the process of online submission of nomination papers.
A delegation of Shujan, led by its president M Hafizuddin Khan, came up with a set of suggestions at a view-exchange meeting with Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda and three election commissioners-Mahbub Talukder, Md. Rafiqul Islam and Brig Gen (Retd) Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury-at the
 Nirbachan Bhaban yesterday afternoon.
Shujan also recommended narrowing the voter gap among the 300 parliamentary constituencies, taking initiative for increasing women representation to 33 percent posts of all political parties by 2020.
Enactment of a law over appointment of Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners, reducing the existing ceiling (Tk 25 lakh) of parliamentary election expenditures and taking effective measures to check election violence were among the suggestions.
Shujan Secretary Dr Badiul Alam Majumder told UNB that they focused the issues to reform the country’s electoral system. “The commissioners told us that they would consider the issues,” Dr Majumder said.
