Shown failed in May 30 results, at least 4 SSC examinees get GPA 5

UNB, Dhaka: What was devastating for many SSC examinees 20 days back when their results were announced now that turned out to be good news as they were shown successful in the results announced afresh on Saturday after the reevaluation of their answer scripts. Azad Hossain (Roll- 104971) of Chittagong Police Station School was shown unsuccessful in the main results but he now got GPA 5 when his result was reevaluated. He was placed in F grade in Physics in the results but got A+ in the corrected one. Similarly, Aong Shay Sing Marma (Roll-119235) of Bandarban Govt High School was shown failed in the main results but he got GPA 5 in reevaluated results. He got F grade in Higher Mathematics in the results but got A+ in the revised one. In Sylhet Board, an examinee bearing roll number 102100 was also shown unsuccessful in the main results but he got GPA 5 in the corrected results. Professor Mohammad Shahjahan, Chairman of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Chittagong said action would be taken against the teachers who failed to check examination papers properly. “Such incidents take place due to the negligence of some examiners. The examiners will be disqualified and be served show-cause notices,” he added. About 9500 examinees applied for reevaluation the examination papers. Of them, 191 examinees have got their results changed but that of the remaining ones remain unchanged, Prof Shahjahan added. Dr Srikanto Kumar Chandra, Controller (Examination) of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka, said 32326 examinees applied for the reevaluation of the examination paper. Of them, 665 examinees got their results changed and that of the remaining ones remained unchanged. Of the 665 examinees, 105 got GPA 5 and 90 who previously failed this time passed in the corrected results. One candidate now got GPA 5 who previously failed, he added. In reply to a query, he said wrong calculation, mistakes in fulfilling the circle and avoiding the answer to the question papers are the reason behind the changes in the results, he added. On May 30, the results of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations were published with 87.04 percent pass rate. A total of 12, 82, 618 students (87.04 percent), out of the total 1,473,594, came out successful in this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations.
